lol...well first you have to tell people what kind of avatar you want... just a picture one? what theme? or an animated one like Maniac's and Jax's which will require Flash MX or some C++ programmming skills (not me).

Aw, it's nothing really... just an animated GIF. Well, alright, it does have 16 frames.

Well as I (thought I) said, it's just an animated GIF (like Maniac said), no flash or C++ (why would you use that anyway?) needed. Just download a free GIF animator program. There's plenty out there.

EDIT: Oh and I only fell for the Ctrl+W thing after I saw it here... AFTER it'd been removed.

you should have known what ctrl+w does . u use firefox, don't u?

The GIMP can do animations really easily. You just create the different slides as layers. Then go to Filters->Animation...->Playback or something like that.
When you save the image do it to .GIF and choose to save as an animation.

thats crazy! in school we learn to use Flash MX and Dreamweaver (although i prefer normal HTML), and Photoshop.... and i dunno if i have been taught this yet...or i hvnt found it yet...btu i dont think Photoshop can do animations ....im dl-ing The GIMP right now . You've converted me....a bit more convincing and ill DL Firefox too

ye i knew bout using ImageReady, im just saying that GIMP... a free image-editiing program having animation built in as a not only a bonus, but as great a tool as teh image-eiditing iteself, is a surprise. But ty for thsi website....wow...theres alot of cool stuff on here

I have heaps of other resources at my disposal.

There are also many GIF creators out there. They dont necessarily offer image editing though. You just put in a bunch of images and combine them into one animated GIF.
