I'm planning on spending some more time with working with signatures.
I want to make a themed signature for any "active" riddlers that want one.
I currently use The GIMP for image editing, and was wondering if anyone else does?
If so we could work together on it.

At the moment I'm just looking for ideas.
If anyone has any pictures or images they like, link them here, and we'll see what comes of it.

I'd be happy to get a sig, but I'd be bad at helping...

BTW, do you know where all the admins went? It's like they made another site and left us... Probably just coincidence that they can't get on, but still...

I use The GIMP - it pWns.

As for Matchu, Jaxpylon left for three weeks, Felix82 is in Texas and can only get on past like, 7 PM Central (if his friend brought a laptop), and Maniac... um... hasn't been on in a while.

Oh. Never knew about the Jax leaving thing. Shame, cuz I PMd him a method to have higher classes bypass previous forum passwords right after he left...

Check my sig for the simple method. It'll be just a little time consuming to make, but worthwhile if we can do it.

I wanted to know who uses The GIMP because if you save your projects in the .xcf format, you can share your projects with the layers and scripts still intact.

Google "Groking the Gimp" It a book that you can buy in hardcover, or download in HTML for free.
It's a very indepth guide to using The GIMP.
I have a 24MB installation file with it on it.

yeah, i found that already, its about 26 mb. its a huge download for my dialup connection.

Here's the HTML version, but there are a lot of images on most pages.

Not to sound dumb, but no idea what the Gimp is. I use microsoft publisher if that helps with anything, but have never designed sigs before so I don't even know if it is compatible.

It's an image editor thing - like Photoshop but free biggrin.gif

The GIMP (The GNU Image Manipulation Program).
It has many of the features that Photoshop has, but you don't have to spend hundreds of dollars for, since it's an open-source program.
I suggest you give it a go.
You need to install two parts.
Firstly:
GTK+ 2 Runtime Environment (version 2.8.18, for Windows 2000 and newer)
Once that is installed:
The GIMP for Windows (version 2.2.11)
There are also version available for Linux and MacOS so everyone wins!
Once installed and running, browse some of the Tutorials. There are many indepth examples to get you started, complete with examples and screenshots.

yeah, both GTK and GIMP comes with the Linux OS webriddler/up.gif

GIMP woudl be fine, but its meant for Linux and if you run it on windows it has a lot of bugs and tiny (but annoying) errors. I prefer Paint.net, which is like the more proffesinal version of the Paint that comes with windows...trust me its not as dumb the one that comes. Althloguh it doesnt have many of teh features Adobe Photoshop has, it has alll the usefull ones, and i personally prefer it to GIMP because of the simple yet powerful tools.

Hmmm. interesting. I'll have to look into that one.
