Okay, here we go. I've included the images as links to avoid stretching the forum.

The first is the home-page when logged out. The new guest bar explains alot more - and can easily be changed as necessary. The Login and Register links work - however they are purely functional and look pretty dodgy at the moment, so I won't bother showing you those. Note that the Details on the forums are still rather simple. Eventually it'll show details on the la-*test*-('") post in each forum, etc. (Yay for more killer SQL queries) The Active Users at the bottom works perfectly, showing how many users/guests are online. Also, the forum stats simply show similar to what is here at the moment; but I'll be able to show pretty much anything we want. I figured it'd be nice to show the last 5 or so members who have registered instead of just one as well.
Homepage - Logged Out

This one is another shot of the homepage with the user logged in. Everything is pretty much the same bar the status box at the top. It'll always show you what phase you are currently on - so no more of this: "I'm on phase 7/8... or is it 9? I'm so confused :S" business. In addition, I'll eventually add a link there direct to the relevant Hints & Tips thread. Also, this box shows you what other users, if any, are also on the same phase as you. (NOTE: this only shows online users. So you won't have 897 names there if you are stuck on Phase 1) This could help with teaming up with other users temporarily. This box may also include a shoutbox as well. Still deciding whether to do that or not. The numbers at the bottom next to the logged in users, show their current phase number. This will likely change somehow, as it's not exactly self-explanatory at the moment.
Homepage - Logged In

Now onto the topic list. This is where that killer SQL query that took me days to write comes in. Everything seems pretty much self-explanatory. The New Topic link does not work correctly just yet, so I can't show you that either. At the moment, all the posts in a topic are shown on 1 page. I'm trying to avoid having to mess with that query again - but it'll have to happen.
Topic List

The final image is just a sample of what the positing looks like. Most of my time has been on that page - but it's coming close to 100% completion. All of the bbCode tags that are currently implemented are shown - there are still quite a few that need to be added. Lists are the main ones. There are also no smilies as of yet - however they should be reasonably easy.
Topic View

None of the profile or messaging pages have been done yet - that stuff is simply being modified direct from the database at the moment. As you can see, the colour scheme and layout is similar to what is here - but a little simpler. Whilst there may be less features there than here - the main difference is that here, they are limited to what exists. There, absolutely anything can be added.

Feel free to leave your thoughts, comments, suggestions or anything you like.

EDIT: Remember, all of the bbCode tags will of course be closed with the corresponding [/] tag.

COOL webriddler/up.gif

You have all that done... wow. That is... purrty. smile.gif

Heh.

And those who examine the screenshots closely will notice something they didn't expect ;D

...anyways. I vote No Shoutbox all the way. That's just begging for spoilers, no matter how closely you claim to monitor them.

You mean you being a member? ohmy.gif

i'd call that special privileges dry.gif
anyways, nice to see so much already being done smile.gif

matchu is essentially acting as an alpha -*test*-('")er. He's the only non-staff member with access to the site at the moment. Basically all he's doing is trying out the features as I implement them and pointing out flaws.

Btw, one extra note about the site. Those images were taken in IE7. As far as I know, everything works perfectly so far in IE6, IE7, FF1.6 and later, and Safari 3.0. Nothing has been -*test*-('")ed in Opera or any other browsers, but those above are the main 3 "categories" if you like of browsers. Safari - completely standards compliant, FF - mostly standards complain, IE - barely any compliance to standards (makes web design a pain).

Haha. The only "special privilege" I got was not being kicked off the site once I found it xP

Anyways.

It's looking real, real cool so far. Especially since Jax is coding this all by hand. Have YOU ever made a forum in PHP by yourself? I think not. A round of applause is due! *applauds in a round*

*joins in the applause.. in a round blink.gif*

i guess having you there to -*test*-('") it all out should clear the path for the rest of us webriddler/up.gif

Heh... thanks guys. It's certainly an interesting experiment. Some parts are easier, others harder than I expected. The ironic thing is, that I hate doing web design formally. But when I'm doing it just as a hobby, I enjoy it.

What can I say? Brilliant! Especially you're doing it all by yourself from nothing. Glad you enjoyed making it, so we're bound to have a good time on the new forum. *joins in the round of applause webriddler/up.gif*
